Special Olympics Summer Games Opening Ceremonies

About This Event:
Special Olympics Montana, a 43 year-old movement that enables children and adults with intellectual disabilities to train for life through sports, is inviting the entire Billings Area Community for a night of world class entertainment to celebrate the 2013 State Summer Games. The public is invited to come and say “I’m a Part of Something Special” with over 1,500 athletes and coaches from across Montana as they celebrate respect and inclusion!
Opening Ceremonies will begin at 7pm on May 15th in the Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark with a pre-show beginning at 6pm which will include magicians, a Star Wars entertainment group, the Shriner Clowns, Spiral Skies Belly Dance Troupe and Terpsichore Dance. This year’s Opening Ceremonies will include Billings’ own 7th Avenue Band, Maxie Ford, Skyview High School’s Skylights Show Choir, and more including the ZOOperstars as seen on “America’s Got Talent” who will delight athletes, coaches, families, volunteers and the community. The event will be emceed by Billings’ celebrity Robb Griggs of KTVQ and local athletes.
The evening will also include moving elements such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run Circle of Honor and a brief memorial invocation for fallen officers. There will also be a very special performance by singer Cara Ayres who will sing a song inspired by the amazing Temple Grandin and danced by Maribel Schaff, Carly Green and Megan Mo. And don’t miss Billings’ own Special Olympics Dance Team, run by Tamara Grimm, the Rockers!
About the ZOOperstars!: ZOOperstars! is a sports entertainment show as seen on “America’s Got Talent” with a cast of outrageous, inflatable characters that perform a combination of hilarious stunts, dances, maneuvers, and tricks in huge costumes with clever names, such as Elephant Presley, Tiger Woodschuck, Shaquille O’Seal, Mia Hammster, Barack Ollama and over 30 more.
